So far, the summer of 2008 has been a busy one!We kicked off the summer with a trip to Davis' Farmland with the cousins - matching bathing suits and all! The kids had a blast. The boys went on a hay ride (yes, pulled by a John Deere!). Annabelle had just started walking, and it was a riot watching her navigate the water park!
Another exciting event this summer was Jack's christening (June 1st). Jack (Jay and Veronica's baby) was born on March 18th. They asked me to be his Godmother, which was a HUGE honor. The christening was really nice... I thought Jack was the cutest (and most well-behaved) baby there. The party afterwards was a lot of fun - we wound up having great weather, and I think Jack really enjoyed all the attention!
We spent Father's Day in Vermont. The kids got Mike a tent, and we announced that we had booked a camp site for two nights in July (stay tuned for details on that one!). We thought it would be fun for Mike and Owen to camp out in the backyard for the night... you know, a trial run. Well Mike didn't want to go to sleep at 7:30, so we told Owen to go on in, make himself comfortable, and Daddy would join him in a little while. After about 5 minutes alone, Owen started yelling "get me out of this tent" and thrashing around trying to find the door. They both slept indoors that night, which actually worked out well since we had some major thunderstorms that night. What were we thinking, that a 4 year old would want to hang out in a tent all by himself for hours...?
This past weekend, Owen had an important visitor! His cousin Aaron came for the entire weekend to celebrate his 13th birthday. They went to Funworld on Saturday (I stayed at home with Ellie, since the place drives me "bonkers") and then to a Lowell Spinners game with Oli and Uncle David. Owen could not have been happier to have Aaron as a sidekick all weekend. By the time he left, he was talking like HE was 13. We actually heard him use the expression OMG (correctly, by the way!).
