The Beginning

To begin at the beginning, I guess I'll try to summarize the past 4 years... is that even possible? Let's see - Owen was born on April 18, 2004. He was an adorable baby, and very easy. For the first couple of days. Then he turned into what we now know is a "normal" baby... We had assumed that raising kids would be as easy as "raising" Molly (our dog). Turned out to be a little more difficult, but MUCH more rewarding. I'm pretty sure Owen's first word was "mama" which he used a LOT! He was an early talker, and a big John Deere fan, so we're pretty sure his second word was "articulated dumptruck". Okay, not quite, but you get the idea. He's always been really smart (do all parents say that??), incredibly sweet, sensitive and a lot of fun.

We did all sorts of fun things when he was a baby... we spent a lot of time with his buds Catherine and Connor. He's always ADORED his aunts and uncles, so we spent a lot of time with them, too. We had a couple of trips down to Florida, which he loved! Lots of trips to see Nanny and Poppa in Vermont. The first couple of years really did fly by. Everyone told us they would.

In December of 2005 we found out we were pregnant again. Right away, I KNEW I was having a girl! Sure enough, Elizabeth Anne (named after her Auntie) or "Ellie" as we've always called her, was born the following August. Owen took to her immediately (although the novelty has since worn off a bit!). Ellie really was an easy baby; she went everywhere we went and rarely complained. She's always been a bit of a clown... she has an infectious laugh and loves to entertain. She's more of a risk-taker, and has always enjoyed chasing after Owen and his friends, trying to keep up with the "big kids"! We always wondered if having two kids would be twice as hard as having one... it's definitely not the case with our two. Although they drive each other crazy at times ("bonkers", as Owen would say), I think they both really enjoy the companionship. We've all had a lot of fun these last few years!

Which (sort of) brings us up to speed, although it's nearly impossible to summarize everything in just a few short paragraphs. So you see my point: better start writing down all of our little adventures before another 4 years slip by! Enjoy sharing them with us.
