With my kids, everything is a race. A race to see who can brush their teeth first, who can get in the car first, who can... well, you get the picture. Where do they get this sense of competition? Beats the heck out of me.
So as they were scrambling to get their seatbelts on the other day, each one taunting the other with, "I'm gonna win!", I finally snapped and said, "guys, not everything is a race!" To which Ellie responded, "except for marathons, Mommy".
